IMPORTANT EASTERN SITES FIELD DAYS INFORMATION

Despite the dry conditions all 3 Eastern Regional Sites will be holding field days this year on the originally scheduled dates. Full details of the programs are still being finalised for Wirrinya and Alectown, as local groups for these sites are still in the throws of confirming if crop competitions go ahead this year.

It goes without saying there is some need for flexibility in field day planning given the declining conditions! I am working with Karen Roberts and Ken Motley (both NSW DPI) on field day arrangements in consultation with the farmer groups for each site.

All 3 sites will have NSW DPI supported 'Farm Family Gatherings' starting at 5:30 pm.  The rest of the family are encouraged to join the field day goers for a BBQ tea (at no cost), thanks to Jan Bruce (Drought Support Worker, NSW DPI – Parkes).  Rabo Bank will be assisting with drinks at Gunning Gap and Wirrinya, thanks to Nick and Anthony (Rabo Bank, Forbes).

Following is a summary of field day arrangements:

Gunning Gap - Start: 2:30 pm @ "Pleasant View" seed cleaning shed. Farm Family Gathering 5:30 pm @ "Pleasant View" seed cleaning shed.

Wirrinya - Start time yet to be confirmed, but we are most likely to meet at the Wirrinya School. Farm Family Gathering 5:30 pm @ Wirrinya Sports Ground/Tennis Courts

Alectown - Start time about 3.00pm, location to be confirmed.

All three field days will be travelling field days looking at trial sites and also commercial paddocks.

Main Topic areas: Drought support, Weed management in cropping situations.

Some of the associated grower groups will also be judging there crop competitions as well.
