Central West Farming Systems hosts eleven regional sites located at: Alectown, Euabalong, Gunning Gap, Lake Cargelligo, Merriwagga, Nyngan, Rankins Springs, Tottenham, Ungarie, Weethalle and Wirrinya.
The sites work in a paired system, where one site of a pair has a year off from hosting trials and demonstrations.
The regional sites are designed to answer local researchable questions. The sites are supported by District, private and local Agronomists and are run by local farmer committees.
These sites are currently funded by GRDC through our Water Use Efficiency Program. Trials therefore focus on both in-crop and fallow management practices that will increase crop water use efficiency.
Additional funding has also been made available through the Woolworths/Landcare Australia program. This allows us to investigate further sustainable farming solutions for our region.
We strongly encourage you to get involved with your local site.
For general enquiries, please contact Caroline on (02) 6895 1016, Mobile: 0487 051 084
Some regional sites are investigating rotations suitable for their area; others are conducting variety trials, seeding rate trials, sowing times trials, herbicide trials, soil management trials, seed dressing trials.
